I was at Michael's today and they had Christmas candy displayed right by the registers - with a sign stating "Halloween Candy" in orange and black. I submitted to Fail Blog, so go vote for it (rate it) and maybe it'll appear on the front page. I don't win anything for getting there except bragging rights lol. Plus it'll make me feel better about the poor customer service the manager has :)
Here's the pic:
And here's the link to vote.

Print Just What You Want
Ever want to print out a blog post or article from a website, but don't want all the crap surrounding it? Thanks to Lifehacker, I found the solution - Printliminator allows you to customize what prints out on paper very easily.
Here's my blog before using Printliminator:

Of course, if you were to print my blog you'd want ALL the goodness and not just part ;)

Recycle Part 2
I forgot a couple of things in my post on recycling - don't forget that toilet paper and paper towel rolls can be recycled with the rest of your paper!
Also, the envelopes that tea bags come in (and the little tag on the bag for that matter, but even I'm not that good lol :)

PS Thanks to Julie of From Inmates to Playdates for letting me use the pic - she's not sure of the original source, but I found it on her blog.

Trying to be good
I discovered that one cup of sugar is 774 CALORIES. Which means that when I drink close to a gallon of sweet tea in one day, that's 500-700 calories I'm DRINKING. Ugg.
So I stopped making sweet tea at home, and it's killing me. I still get it out, but I don't eat out that often anymore, so I don't get my daily fix. I'm dying lol!
I am also trying to eat better. Today I did go to lunch, but had one taco instead of my usual two. (Did have the tea though lol!) Still trying to cook, and make better snack choices. Sometimes I fail (like this evening I had a bunch of the light Lay's Kettle-Cooked Chips - yum!), but I'm doing good overall.
Please tell me this drastic reduction of my biggest vice/addiction will get better!

Recycle
I keep discovering new things that are easily recyclable. I'll bet most of you are just tossing little bits of paper, packaging, and more.
I keep bins around the house for paper. Tags from clothing, packaging inserts, straw wrappers, paper scraps, newspapers, junk mail, cereal and other dry food boxes, shoe boxes, receipts, and more go in the bins, then everything gets taken out with the recycling on Thursdays.
How many of those things do you throw away?
For plastic, look at everything - unfortunately many companies don't bother to put a number on their packaging, but for those that do, HOORAY! Most communities will easily recycle #1 and #2 plastics. I'm trying to find somewhere closer than Whole Foods that does #5 (prescription bottles and other types of thicker/sturdier plastics), but for now I've got a bag going that I'll eventually bring over there. You know the lampshade collar that poor Madigan had to wear? It's a #5 so easily recycled! Although I will probably just drop that off at Animal Services - better to reuse than recycle.
I hardly ever get a bag at any store, opting instead of bring my own. Not just grocery stores, all stores - clothing, Build-a-Bear, drugstores, grocery, crafts, you name it. (Part of this is helping to justify my obsession with totebags though lol). Rob is afraid to come into the house with plastic grocery bags now - he hides them from me lol.
I pack Rob's lunch every night - maybe 2x a month will he get something in a ziploc, everything else is in a reusable container.
I'm not perfect in my quest to save the planet - and by no means can I do it alone - but I do what I can, and hope you all do the same!
